25th August: Non-native species, a real threat

The non-native and invasive plant species that inhabit the Friuli Venezia Giulia region represent a threat to biodiversity, with impact on human health and socio-economic consequences. But what are the ways these plants came to us and what makes them so dangerous? And which of our wild plants represent a minace on other continents?

Appointment Sunday, August 25th at 10.30 am at the Carsiana Botanical Garden to explore this interesting and very important topic with Marco Valecic, the Phytosanitary Inspector of the ERSA.

For the occasion, all participants will be distributed free of charge the booklet published by the FVG Region, ERSA and the Naturalistic Teaching Center of Basovizza: "Invasive exotic plant species in FVG - Recognition and possible containment measures".

At the end of the walk we also propose a practical part on the use of the most common and valid smartphone applications that can help us determine the species, spontaneous and allochthonous, that we encounter during our walks.

Participation in the event and the material provided are free.
